EYC Takes Part in All-Faith Night with the Lynx

The St. Thaddeus EYC (Episcopal Youth Community) spent Friday, January 11, 2008 as guests for the Augusta Lynx Minor League Hockey team’s inagural All-Faith Night. More than a dozen churches from the Georgia/South Carolina border area participated in the event, which was a huge success.

St. Thaddeus was well-represented, taking 25 EYC-ers and chaperons to he game, which was played at James Brown Arena and pitted the Lynx against the visiting Florida Everblades. Though the visitors defeated the Lynx 6-1, the night was a whole lot of fun.

During the first intermission St. Thaddeus vestry member Paul Carroll was asked to come onto the ice and shoot a couple of shots into one of the nets for some prizes. He didn’t succeed, but the Lynx were kind enough to give him and his family some cool gifts just for participating.

During the second intermission the EYC-ers participated in a contest by throwing foam hockey pucks onto the ice. Had one of them managed to hit a bullseye at center ice he or she would have won $100. Nobody hit the bullseye, but several EYC-ers came awfully close!

The St. Thaddeus EYC has been invited to return to the Lynx later his season, and if it promises to be as much fun as this night, you can guarantee the EYC will be there.
