The Advent Season

Every Advent and Christmas I look for a special Book for the Season. I have no particular strategy about the search. The book just appears. This past fall when I attended a continuing education conference on Core Transformations at a Jesuit Retreat Center in Denver a book in their store began to talk to me. It has been sitting in he stack of books on my end table since. I began to read it yesterday. The book title is Abandonment to Divine Providence by the French spiritual writer Jean-Pierre de Caussade. He writes: “In reality, holiness consists of one thing only: complete loyalty to God’s will; Our only satisfaction must be to live in the present moment as if there were nothing to expect beyond it.”

What are you reading to assist your discipline of preparation for the coming of Christ?
