Welcome to stthaddeus.org, online home of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church in Aiken, South Carolina. Our church, which includes the oldest sanctuary in town, is located on Pendleton Street near the city’s center. Saint Thaddeus is part of the Upper Diocese of South Carolina and the Episcopal Church.

History of St. Thaddeus
This is an historic place
The history of St. Thaddeus is closely tied with that of Aiken. Aiken is a planned town, laid out in the 1830’s by the South Carolina Canal and Railroad Co. at the peak of the railroad grade from the Savannah River valley to the plateau of the South Carolina sand hills. The plan reserved land for churches, one of which was St. Thaddeus. (The South Carolina Railroad, the first long line in the U. S., connected Charleston with Hamburg, across the Savannah River from Augusta, Georgia.)
Facilities
The Stevenson-McClelland Parish House of St. Thaddeus Church was constructed to share our vision of Christ and His Kingdom with our neighbors. We want it to be used for activities of the parish and community that work to that end. While we must generally give our Parish activities priority, we welcome other groups as described below.
